The 3rd and final week of the crits for 2008, again both Neil Lewis and Graham Hill represented the Southborough. It was another spirited evening of racing with a number of attempts to break from the bunch. Just after the final prime with 2 laps to go 3 riders got away from the bunch. With these 3 from the same team and more of the same team hampering any attempts to close the gap by the bunch it was almost a foregone conclusion that they would stay away until the finish. In the run in to the finish Graham helped get Neil up into the sprint for the minor placings, with Neil finishing 9th (subject to confirmation). Neil finished equal 17th overall, having picked up points in a prime in an earlier race.

June 20th, 2008
Despite
the headwind down the Broyle, it seemed to be a really rapid night,
with plenty of attempts to split the group being made by many riders.
Thanks to the top 3 GC riders boys who broke away together to make the
judging a little bit easier.
Also, great to see the Brighton Mitre getting it together to try to make more of the race with lots of breakaway attempts.
Clearly at this stage it is appropriate to thank all the helpers and
marshalls, riders, ambulance (fortunatley not required), commissaires
and assistants etc who come together to make the race. I feel it is
even more important to particularly mention the 2 Escort motor bikes
who were amazing, I have never seen cars actually stop for the race
beofre and I am sure everyone will agree that the junctions were much
safer with their presence.
Finally, massive thanks to www.thetristore.com for supporting the prize fund. I am sure you will all show your appreciation by making some purchases.

The final places will be agreed once we look at the video.
So to the Final GC positions, clearly, the Bayeux Landscapes team
were in control of every round, generally getting 4 riders in the top 5
of each race. With such a strong team it was going to take 3 special
rides to stand out from the rest of the riders and Josh Cunningham was
incredibly consistent when it came to winning points, in the primes and
at the finish and ended up the runaway leader.
I didn’t think second place was ever in doubt, I was wrong, Shaun
Reed wrestled the position from Jason Salter in the final few yards of
the race.
Mark Markowski was fourth to round out the Bayeux Landscape top 4.
Mark Storey (GS Stella) and Chris Howard (VC Londres) finished first
of the non-Bayeux riders, and finished with equal points. Mark Storey
takes 5th position by scoring the most (and all of his) points on the
final night.
