Southborough & District Wheelers, the Tunbridge Wells based Cycling Club is preparing to welcome the passing of the Tour de France though the town in July with a festival of events throughout the year.

Thursday 19th April – Opening Evening at the Clubroom.

This is an evening for anyone with an enthusiasm for cycling to meet the local Club, and find out what we can offer you.

Come along any time after 8pm to Borderers Sports Club, St Marks Recreation Ground, Frant Road, Tunbridge Wells, Kent  TN2 5LS. (map here )

 

Tour de France 'Prologue' time trials - Get a taste for the Tour


Experience what the Tour de France riders will be doing in the London Prologue.

Use ANY roadworthy bike be it road or mountain bike.
 


 

Thursday 10th May 2007 – Evening “Come and Try it” Club Event.

This is a 4 mile Time Trial circuit with the option of an extra lap.   For the average rider, 1 lap will take about 10 minutes to complete.

Meet at the junction of the B2188 and B2110 (map here ), just South-west of Groombridge Village.   The event starts at 19.00 hours, so arrive at the meet place at about 18:30 to familiarise yourself with the route and get prepared.

Saturday 14th July 2007 – Southborough Wheelers’ Tour de France Grasstrack.

A “Come and try it” event taking place at Borderers Sports Club, St Marks Recreation Ground, Frant Road, Tunbridge Wells, Kent  TN2 5LS.  The afternoon of events will begin at 13:00 hours.

This event will take place on a grass surface, and is for anyone with a keen interest in cycling, and also for families to join along.

There will be a National “Grasstrack” event taking place during the afternoon from 14:00 hrs to give a taster of what cycle racing is about.

The Club will be there to demonstrate how it can be of benefit to keen and prospective cyclists, and to give advice on all forms of cycling, whether the interest is in training, racing, or touring.   There will be plenty of opportunities for visitors to “Have a go” themselves, so bring your bike.
