As I may have mentioned, in a moment of madness, I have signed up to cycle from London to Paris over 4 consecutive days next week in aid of Action Medical Research, a great charity.
Training has gone well, with the recent warm weather helping to achieve weekly mileage of over 200 miles. I've also managed to lose over a stone in weight, so hopefully I'll have no problems getting up those hills along the way.
To date I have raised £1,793 in sponsorship so thank you to all of you who have sponsored me so far, if you haven’t then don’t worry it’s not too late to do so, and I have said that if my online sponsorship reaches £1,000 by close of business on Friday I will bear the pain and shave my legs for the cause.

So there you go, this time next week my ride to Paris would have started, and I'll be well on my way to counting down those miles...
Thanks again for all your support.

This years Smithfield Nocturne on 19th June is likely to be bigger and better than last year, with 15 thousand spectators expected to enjoy a range of events from the Elite Criterium to the Longest Skid competition.
A regular crowd pleaser is the Folding bike race which sees 80 riders battle it out for the title of London's fastest commuter. Southborough Wheeler's Keith Henderson, who has triumphed the last two years in succession will be riding again in an attempt to make it a hatrick. Choice of bike, and the resultant constructor's championship is also hotly contested as the manufacturers fight to be top dog on the day. Last year, Brompton fielded a suitably well blazered team, and Rapha's Graeme Raeburn came a close second on his custom Brompton. However, with Dahon as the main event sponsor and Keith riding his Dahon MuSL bike into the top spot for the last two years, the US based manufacturer will be providing Keith with a 2010 Mu EX in an attempt to give him an edge in this fast paced and hotly contested event. The Mu EX - Dahon's top of the range bike - sports a full Sram Red drive train amongst it's top end specifications. The first of the evenings races starts at 5.30pm.

The final points table for the scratch & handicap series are available below
Scratch Points
Handicap Points
Neil Quarmby once again heads the board for the scratch points championship but it was a close run for 2nd and 3rd between Keith Henderson and Graham Hills. It was all down to the last event and the best placed from the 2 would take 2nd overall.
In the handicap championship, consistant improvement/riding over the year saw Peter Faro take first overall.
