Seems as though WADA have replaced Dick Pound with someone else who seems to open his mouth before engaging his Brain. Let's hope he'll be following this one through with all other sports under the WADA banner.

    Quote:
Earlier on Tuesday, John Fahey, president of the World Anti-Doping Agency, said Contador should now be considered a "cheat".
"The simple fact is that anyone who has a prohibited substance in their system is a cheat," he said.
"The only argument then comes as to what was the nature of how that prohibited substance got into the athlete's system. But you're a cheat, effectively, the moment you've got that substance in there.''

Late 2013, for christs sake it should be open to the public now. It is built with taxpayers money isnt it?????

It'd look really good with *CENSORED* and gouges for the Olympics now wouldn't it? Rolling Eyes

Who gives a fook what it looks like? The Olympics is slowly but surely disappearing from view straight up its own arse. Why does it take a year to open it to the public? Utter bolleaux

In short, because the day after the paralympics ends, the entire Olympic Park will be turned back into a building site to build all the legacy facilities - noteably in our case, the road circuit, BMX track and MTB trails that go around 3 sides of the velodrome and a car park that's on the 4th side.

While the track itself isn't changing (and in principle, just like right now, could be ridden), it's simply a question of not being able to get to it because it's completely surrounded on all sides by major building works. They'll take about a year to complete - hence the likely autumn 2013 opening date.

I always like to be supportive of organisers etc but it has been utterly shambolic. We are better off going abroad to watch our British track riders.
